Walking on Water
If you can’t teach it, you don’t understand it.
If you don’t have the power to give, you never had power at all.
One of the most compelling intrigues for me in regards to the character of Jesus, is that he is inclusive and deliberate in invitation. He doesn't not need to hold a monopoly on miracles rather predicts those who come after him will do even greater things.
Contrast this vignette with maybe your parents, bosses, local, and national leaders.
As I stepped out onto a frozen lake near the Coeur D Alene National Forest, I began to experience a flurry of child-like emotion. It was the first time I had ever walked on a frozen body of water; trusting my life to the work of deadly cold that had descended the night before.
In moments like these, below freezing, extremities numbing, my mind turns to the stories of the Continental Army at Valley Forge. How silly my discomfort must be when men suffered winters on the New Prussian plains for my freedom! Or the Battered Band of Brothers in forests of Bastogne?
One of the many publications I do not miss every week, is James Clear’s 3-2-1 Thursday. The Atomic Habits author had another brilliantly simple encouragement:
Have no single point of failure.
Have no single path to success.
A worth while check in for all things. Finances, Career, Family, Health, Business, and more.
Are your finances only buoyed by one source? Is your career hinging on a single path or even employer? What does success even look like for a family? What is a point of failure for ones health? Your health? What does success actually look like for your Business?
Have we not bore witness to miracles already? Are we not living in the product of against all odds victories? Why on earth the would we not consider our possibilities accordingly? It would seem even we are invited to walk on water.
