Thanks for this wonderful post Steven! We also do not post any of our family's pictures online. We did take lots of photographs however, which I collected into books, some with stories to go along. Many years have passed since the photo-focused baby and early childhood times (my oldest is now in university), but we all still enjoy pulling out the albums and retelling stories around our captured memories. I prefer holding them in hand, rather than digitized which makes them somehow further removed. Thank you also for leading me to Simon Sarris - I especially resonated with his piece "The Most Precious Resource is Agency".

This essay is stunning, Steven! One long poem embedded with such visual beauty. You say this about Simon, but I read it and think of you: "This man must be a mystic with the essays he delivers in a few words and a picture…" And I continue to be inspired with mysticism as living in wonder. I hope to have a home in the forests someday too.

Well done Señor ;)

I was trying to find a specific thing or two to give specific praise, but by the end I realized I loved the whole thing. This may be my favorite essay from you so far. And the photos...woof...that’s part of your secret sauce, your mystique!

Thank you for writing this!

Not sure if you intended this, but reading about Simon and seeing his aesthetics and the context of his human appreciation and gratitude through your eyes gave me a deeper appreciation of your own values. I feel as though you were showing yourself through the curation process. And I'm more interested than ever in your approach to photography and teaching it to creators. When's your next cohort?

Wowza, this transformed exceptionally. One day, hopefully not long from now, when I too have a cabin in the forest, I will follow in the graces of you both. Simon deserves to be curated, especially by someone who is not only a follower but an active practicer of his philosophies, ideologies, etc. You were the man for the job Steven! Cheers
